Anyone interested in book advertising online should consider what type of book he or she is trying to sell and how effectively he or she can reach an appropriate audience. Someone looking to sell a rare or used book, for example, should look at different retailers online that are often used for such purchases. There are also a number of established online resources that someone can use for marketing and advertising a new book or series, either with or without the assistance of a publisher. Anyone considering book advertising online should also look into ways in which new technology can be utilized for such advertising, such as social networking and interactive advertising.

Book advertising online can be done in a number of ways, though most efforts should be made to reach as large a market as possible. Anyone looking to advertise used or older books online should consider the best ways to reach people interested in such things. There are sites that can be used to sell older or used books; many of these sites provide information regarding the number of purchases made through them. Someone looking to sell rare books should consider sites that specialize in such books, as these are more likely to have an established market of bibliophiles.

A writer of a new book might also consider book advertising online to push his or her new book. This can be done with the assistance of a publisher, though many writers may want to supplement such advertising with their own marketing ideas. Several sites and companies online can be used for such advertising and these programs offer different services at a range of rates. Someone interested in this type of book advertising online should consider the best value for his or her needs and look for an established service with a successful record of sales and marketing.

Book advertising online should also be done in a way that takes advantage of the online medium. This means that someone selling books should consider the use of social media and websites that connect millions of users in a shared environment. There may also be online forums and groups populated by people interested in buying and selling books, and such sites should be utilized for book advertising online. Anyone launching an online advertising campaign for a new book should also consider interactive advertising; this can include the use of audio and video to create a trailer for the book or the creation of unique online media to act as a sample of the book’s contents.

During my last year of college, I took a class that related to social media and advertising. Overall, I feel that it really helped. The part that was most beneficial to me though, is how it really shows that people can advertise their stuff online in different ways. In other words, though there are countless ways to do so, each person is different, and what can work for one person might not work for the other. For example, if someone loves to use Facebook to advertise, it might not be suitable for someone who never got into Facebook. Speaking of which, one thing I've always wondered is how people would advertise their products in the past. Even fifteen years ago, it didn't seem as prominent, especially with much less of a focus on social media. I mean nowadays, people are literally attached to their technology, and it's their whole life.

Unlike many years ago, where we were bound by the limitations of the internet, selling a book in this day and age is a lot easier than it seems. As mentioned in the article as well, there are countless social media sites available for you to advertise. In my opinion though, the best place to start would be Facebook. Perhaps you could post a status, asking if anyone knows some good tips about a book they're selling. Either that, or you can message your *real* friends, and ask for some advice. And to think that this is only one of the ways in which you can use social media as an outlet for your advertising. There are a lot of opportunities out there, and don't be afraid to reach out to others.

When selling a book, always remember that you want what you're selling to be in good quality. After all, just because you're selling it online doesn't mean that you can just rip people off, as in, you're behind a keyboard. Not to mention if they aren't satisfied with the product, or if they feel ripped off, they're always allowed to ask for their money back. Book or not, selling any item takes a lot of skill. However, like with most things, practice makes perfect.
